Martim Sousa Tavares is Born in Lisbon, 1991.

Bachelor in Musicology, Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2012, very good), Bachelor in Orchestral Conducting, Conservatorio di Musica di Brescia (2016, summa cum laude) and Italian Conducting Academy (2016), Master in Orchestral Conducting, Bienen School of Music – Northwestern University (2018, program honors and recipient of Fulbright and Eckstein scholarships).

Fluent in five languages.

Main activity within music:

Music director of Orquestra Sem Fronteiras and coordinator of pedagogical projects with Movimento Patrimonial pela Música Portuguesa.

The main activity in communication:

Author of weekly radio shows Casa de Partida (2019) and A Lira de Orfeu (2020) for Portuguese national radio Antena 2, creator of the cycle of lecture concerts Ouvidos para a Música for Temporada de Música em S. Roque (2018, 2019, 2020).

Main activity as thinker:

Guest curator of Galerida da Biodiversidade – Museu de História Natural e Ciência da Universidade do Porto (2019), artistic director of A Boca do Lobo in Lux Frágil (2020).
