The Novi Piano Duo made their debut in 2018. The ensemble is made up of graduates of the Academy of Music in Kraków, Anna Wielgus, and Grzegorz Nowak.
Anna Wielgus studied piano with Mariola Cieniawa at the Academy of Music in Kraków and graduated with a Master of Arts degree in 2016. Concurrently she was receiving instructions on chamber music faculty with Sławomir Cierpik and Janina Baster. She has taken part in numerous international master classes of solo and chamber music conducted by eminent musicians from all over the world as Andrzej Jasiński, Anna Malikova, Olga Łazarska, Paul Badura-Skoda, Jonathan Aner, Pascal Le Corre, Adam Wodnicki. She has twice won a scholarship from the Artistic Education Centre.
Grzegorz Nowak studied with Stefan Wojtas and Piotr Machnik at the Academy of Music in Kraków. He has received instructions on chamber music from Danuta Mroczek-Szlezer, Sławomir Cierpik and Bartłomiej Kominek. He has taken part in several masterclasses conducted by such famous artists as Dina Yoffe, Wojciech Świtała, Ewa Bukojemska, Eugen Indjic, Jerzy Sterczyński, Tamas Ungar.
He has given concerts in Poland and also abroad in Germany, Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Izrael, Finland, and Kuwait. The Novi Piano Duo has a busy concert schedule that takes them to venues throughout Poland and beyond. The duo won prizes at many prestigious competitions: First Prize and Grand Prix at the 6th International Piano Duo Competition Lions Club de Monaco in Monte Carlo, First Prize in the two pianos section at the 29th “Roma International Piano Competition”and First Prize with Grand Prix in the four hands section at the 29th “Roma International Piano Competition”, First Prize at the 5th Manhattan International Music Competition, First Prize at the ISCART International Music Competition.
The Novi Piano Duo won an Honourable Mention and Special Prize for the best piano duo at the Stanisław Moniuszko International Competition of Polish Music in Rzeszów. The duo has participated in masterclasses conducted by Stenzl Piano Duo, Duo Miroir, Duo Turgeon, Kanazawa-Admony Piano Duo. They are currently perfecting their skills under the guidance of Bartłomiej Kominek at their alma mater.
