Ms. Soneghetti is a Brazilian soprano with Italian heritage, gifted with a rich lyric voice. Soneghetti holds a degree in Music by the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and is also an alumna of the Bidu Sayâo Opera Academy, the opera studio held by Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil’s most traditional opera house.
Paolla is known for having major awards in competitions all over Brazil: at the beginning of 2020, she won the 1st place at the Young Soloists Competition at the VI Gramado in Concert Music Festival, making history as the first singer to ever win such a prize. In 2018 Ms. Soneghetti has also been granted 1st place — Best Female Voice at the XI Carlos Gomes Voice Competition and 3rd place at the International Goiania Opera Festival. Her most recent awards are an Encouragement Prize at the 5th Linus Lerner International Voice Competition, and the 2nd place at the Boris Martinovich International Voice Competition, both held online in the year 2021.
2019 was a year of great accomplishments for Ms. Soneghetti: she performed a solo recital dedicated only to Puccini’s work, including arias from La Bohéme, Turandot, and Tosca. In the same season, she has debuted as The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors by Menotti, under the baton of Linus Lerner ahead of the Symphonic Orchestra of Rio Grande do Norte (OSRN). Earlier that year, the soprano made her stage debut as the title-role for Angelica, directed by Claudio Avila, proving herself a natural Puccini singer.
Mid-summer 2018 had Paolla as Pamina in Die Zauberfldte for the fourth time in her career, at Leopoldo Miguez Hall and Teatro Municipal de Niteroi, conducted by Felipe Prazeres and as Annina in La Traviata under Linus Lerner’s baton — she also covered for Violetta in that same production at Teatro Sesi in Goiania, Brazil.
The season 2017-2018 brought Soneghetti to the main stage of Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro; as a Bidu Say9o Opera Academy student, she performed in concerts and galas of great relevance, including the annual birthday gala of Theatro iVlunicipal and Villa Lobos 130’: a celebration. In the same year the soprano was Nella at a brand-new production of Gianni Schicchi by the Atlantis Opera Company, conducted by Evandro Rodrigues.
On the concert stage, Paolla’s most recent appearances include: Vivaldi’s Gloria, conducted by Marcos Paulo Mendes ahead the Symphonic Orchestra of the Brazilian Conservatory of Music and guest soloist of the Symphonic Orchestra of Rio Grande do Norte’s Classical Tuesdays Project under Linus Lerner’s baton.
Ms. Soneghetti’s previous works in opera are Pamina and Erste Dame in Die Zauberfl5te, Gontran in Uné education manqueé, J st Witch in Dido and Aeneas and the title role of La Serva Padrona marks the beginning of her journey as an opera singer.
The soprano has also participated in international music festivals and competitions such as the Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition, held in Spain; the Sankt Goar International Music Festival, and the Lyric Opera Studio of Weimar, both in Germany and the auditions for the Mirella Freni Belcanto Academy in Italy.
Her versatility as an artist is shown by her previous Musical Theatre engagements such as Minnie Fay in Hello, Dolly!and as a part of the ensemble in The Sound of music.
